DUNFERMLINE'S Pittencrieff Park has won its first-ever Green Flag Award.

Keep Scotland Beautiful, the charity for Scotland's environment, recognised the park for its high standards and quality outdoor space.

It was just one of five parks and green spaces across Fife to receive the prestigious award, which is a benchmark for quality green space. The others are Ravenscraig Park, Beveridge Park and Dunnikier Country Park in Kirkcaldy, and Letham Glen near Leven.

Councillor Gavin Yates, Fife Council’s executive spokesperson for community health and wellbeing, said, “Fife has fantastic parks and green spaces.

"We're delighted to have retained Green Flag recognition for three of our parks. But even better news is we’ve added two new parks to that list, with Pittencrieff Park and Dunnikier Country Park being awarded Green Flags for the first-time.

“These awards are a great endorsement of the work of council staff and Friends groups across the Kingdom. I encourage Fifers to take a trip and appreciate some of Fife’s wonderful parks during the summer.”
