The event took place on Saturday and saw the West Fife public get a behind-the-scenes look at the station, its teams and some of the vehicles they use.

Firefighter Andy Hunter, who helped entertain some of the youngsters on the day, thought it was a great success.

“It went tremendously well in terms of the amount of the public that showed up,” he said. “There could have been about 2000 people there and of course the weather helped! It was a fantastic showing.

“We raised just shy of £1000 but it was also a community engagement with the public to let them in to see exactly what we do. There were displays and demonstrations, a fire dog sniffing for petrol, cars, the rope rescue team jumping off the tower, the water rescue team, and the always-popular face painting! There was quite a variety of displays.

“The kids loved it. The biggest attraction was the fire engine sitting in the yard with its doors open.

“The queue for kids to get a shot in it was about 100 yards long – it looked like the day of the Next sale at 7.30am! It was fantastic.”
