DUNFERMLINE: Asda St Leonards in Dunfermline is urging West Fife community groups in need of a cash boost to get in touch – as it’s “struggling” to give cash away!

Every two months, the store looks for three local groups, good causes or charities who would like to be part of its ‘Green Token’ voting, where customers vote on who they’d like to win.

The winner receives £200 from the Asda Foundation, with the other two groups receiving £50 each.

Asda Community Champion Julie McKell is now urging groups to come forward as there has been a shortage of them wanting to participate.

She said, “You would think that every local group would like a chance, but no.

“My new voting window starts on 1st September and I am struggling to find groups, good causes or charities that would like to take part.” She continued, “This is also a great way of informing out customers what groups and charities are in our local area as it is amazing the amount of stuff that goes on and we do not know about it.

“We want to help our local community but need to find these groups to help them.” The ‘Green Token’ scheme includes charities, projects, schools and groups. To nominate one, log on to storelocator.asda.com/store/st-leonards.
