Jog Scotland Dunfermline, who were established in 2003 and currently have more than 90 members, presented a cheque for £1027 to Muscular Dystrophy UK last Wednesday after using their regular events to help raise cash.

Part of a Scotland-wide initiative, the group welcomes joggers of every level and they decided to help Muscular Dystrophy as two of their members, Allan and Betty Morrison, have a son who suffers from the condition that gradually causes the muscles to weaken and can cause an increasing level of disability.

Christine Garvie, one of Jog Scotland Dunfermline’s founder members, said, “We are really delighted to have been able to help the charity and Betty was a bit speechless. It was a bit of an eye-opener; Dean from the charity came along and told us more about it and I always thought that muscular dystrophy was something that kids were born with. I didn’t realise that adults even in their 40s could get it too.

“It was great to do something and we had a lot of fun raising the money. We’re really pleased.”
