AN Oakley man will have to stump up £550 in compensation after throwing a man against a car during an altercation in Inverkeithing.

Thomas Anderson, of Sir George Bruce Road, admitted that on August 9 at Hill Street, Inverkeithing, he assaulted his victim, seized him and repeatedly punched him.

He pleaded guilty to hurling him against a car, causing the complainer's head to strike the rear windscreen, before throwing him to the ground and kicking him on the head to his injury.

Anderson, who works for Amazon, committed this offence while on bail.

Depute fiscal Kiran Uppal told Dunfermline Sheriff Court that Anderson was approached by the complainer on Hill Street over an incident with Anderson's brother which had taken place the night before.

Anderson grabbed the complainer's arm to try and diffuse the situation before he walked away.

But after being pushed by the complainer, he lost his temper and assaulted him.

Another witness intervened and Anderson ran off, leaving the complainer with injuries including a small laceration behind his left ear and red marks and grazing on his upper back.

Defence solicitor James Moncrieff told the court that his client "accepts full responsibility" for his actions after "appearing to lose his temper".

Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order with 160 hours of unpaid work with 12 months' supervision as well as imposing a £550 compensation order to pay for the damage to the vehicle.
