AN AFFORDABLE housing development could be created in Inverkeithing after a planning application was submitted to Fife Council.

Kingdom Housing Association has applied for permission to build the new properties at Manse Road.

It hopes to create a total of 16 high quality, energy efficient homes centred around an enhanced new “community green” playpark and public space.

The properties would be available for social rent and the development forms part of a wider strategy to create new affordable housing within the town.

Kingdom Group chief executive Bill Banks said public consultation with stakeholders and the local community was carried out before the planning application was submitted.

“We believe our proposals will help address the high demand for affordable housing in Inverkeithing and will give local people the opportunity to access high quality affordable housing," he said.

"The site is in an excellent location and will prove extremely popular. If our planning application is successful, we would hope that construction works can begin early 2018.”

The Edinburgh-based 7N Architects has designed the project on behalf of Kingdom and submitted the detailed planning proposals.

They worked in collaboration with Rankin Fraser Landscape Architecture and gave careful design consideration to create the new housing with a distinctive character, integrated with a landscape aimed at providing a safe, comfortable and enjoyable place for families to live their lives.
