THE Dunfermline Food Bank now has a satellite in Inverkeithing to help West Fifers in need.
The facility is based at the Town House in Townhall Street and is open on Tuesdays from 4-6pm.
Dunfermline Food Bank – run by national food bank charity The Trussell Trust – works with agencies such as Fife Women's Aid, Citizens Advice Bureau and social work services to help people in crisis receive food parcels.
Dunfermline Food Bank chair John Drylie said, “We've been open five weeks and there are hardly any people using the Inverkeithing satellite.
“We just want to get the word out that there's help available locally and hopefully in the next month or two we will be open on Thursdays as well.
“Of the number of people who used Dunfermline Food Bank in the last year, 250 were from Inverkeithing – they're going to Rosyth or Dunfermline, but this satellite is right on their doorstep.
“It's always been our aim to get to where the need is, rather than just be based in one place.” For further information or to volunteer to help, contact John on 07580 231286.
