A SEARCH is under way at Prestonhill Quarry near Inverkeithing after a teenager is suspected to have drowned.

Emergency services were alerted around 9.20pm last night (Thursday) and raced to the quarry, which is located along the Fife Coastal Path.

The fire service's water rescue unit carried out a search of the area using water sleds and a boat, but were unable to locate a casualty.

A Police Scotland spokesman said, "Police in Fife responded along with other emergency services to the Prestonhill Quarry in Inverkeithing at around 9.20pm on Thursday 18th June following a report that an 18-year-old man was within the water.

"A search of the area is under way to trace the male and inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing.” The Press will continue to update you with further details as we get them.
