AN Inverkeithing grandad was tragically killed in a four-vehicle pile-up on the M8 yesterday (Monday).

Wayne Strickland (49) was in a queue stopped in traffic when a van ploughed into the back of his car.

The business advisor had been on his way to work when the accident occurred around 8.50am on the westbound carriageway of Junction 3 near Livingston.

Two cars, a van and an articulated lorry were all involved in the accident, which resulted in three vehicles catching fire, and more than 20 firefighters tackling the flames.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, including fire crews from Livingston, Sighthill, Bathgate and Linlithgow fire stations. The M8 was shut in both directions for several hours.

Police Scotland confirmed that a man had died as a result of the collision and enquiries are ongoing.
