Bob Cheevers

It"s quite something that a room the size of a bothy in Baldridgeburn is attracting musicians of this calibre.

Emmy award winning American Bob Cheevers mixes mellowness, wry humour and a stunning forlorn sincerity.

Like all the best folk musicians, the Memphis man has mastered the art of economical storytelling.

It"s straight down the line, confident folk - full of experience and bittersweet memories.

Not unlike a lot of this genre, you"d think. But Cheevers has an awareness and self deprecating twist that makes it clear you"re in the presence of a master artist.

This is, after all, a man who performed with the late Johnny Cash on what would be the Man In Black"s final tour.

Think "The Stranger" who narrates the Coen brothers movie "The Big Lebowski, and you"re almost there.

From the first note of "Horseshoe Man" the 64 year-old demonstrates the craft and workmanship that will easily sustain him on a UK tour that includes 44 shows in 53 nights.
