Hanging is too good for the scum who stole my bike

A WEST Fife motorbike enthusiast has been left 'soul-destroyed' after his beloved Ducati 998 was stolen last week.

Jason Regan (35), of Moncur Street, Townhill, found the machine missing at around 6.30am on Wednesday. It had been kept in a locked metal garage and is believed to have been taken overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jason, who has had the bike for about three years, said, 'I went down to let the cat out and noticed the garage doors had been opened. I thought, "What the hell is going on?" and saw that my bike had gone.'

Jason and his partner, Lindsay Ashton, believe the bike was stolen to order, as Lindsay"s bike was also in the garage.

Jason said, 'They had to come over the six-foot garden gates, break the padlock on the steel garage door and move Lindsay"s bike out of the way to take my bike.

'There must have been about two or three of them because they would have to lift my bike and move a steel roof support joist out of the way as well.'

The distinctive bike, which has a red paint job based on that of former World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty, is one of only three in the UK.

Well-known among biking circles, it is estimated to cost between £6000 and £8000, although Jason has spent 'thousands' more to upgrade it.

The bike has markings including a yellow coloured shell garage sticker, a black PlayStation sticker and silver Ducati 998 and Ducati performance stickers on the engine block. There are also two England flags, one on either side of the windscreen and a blue and red Termagoni sticker on the exhaust.

Jason, who recently led a fuel protest from Kinross to Edinburgh on the bike, has been left 'gutted' by the theft.

He said, 'She was my little baby. It was my one pride and joy and the only other thing I loved apart from Lindsay. I"ve just not been myself – I just feel depressed and emotionally quite strained.'

He fears that the bike may already be out of the country, or 'in some dodgy breaker"s yard in hundreds of pieces ready to be sold off'.

He added, 'My worst fear is that I will never see it again. I really feel sorry for the bike because somebody will never be able to ride it or sell it in its state. I can"t explain how upset it makes me feel.

'Hanging is too good for the scum who do this sort of thing.'

Jason has contacted biking forums, race teams and Ducati dealerships to put the word out and ask them to keep an eye out for the bike.
