KEEN readers at Park Road Primary School made the most of World Book Day by swapping stories in a Book Bug Exchange.

The aim is to encourage literacy and reading and was organised and run by children at the Rosyth school.

Pupils brought in a book each and exchanged it for another for free, allowing the youngsters to widen their horizons when it comes to reading.

One of the children involved in the Book Bug Committee, Brooke Spence, said: “When we had the idea of making the Book Bug Exchange, we were pleased that it would help more people to read.”

Fellow pupil Caitlin Ward added: “Brooke and I liked encouraging the little ones to read more.”

Headteacher Libby Seath praised the children’s engagement with the event and said: “The Book Bug Committee is one of six different committees that run on alternate six-week blocks, taking forward the school’s learning priorities.

“On the day, I was really impressed by their organisation, teamwork and also the children’s commitment to promote literacy.”
