A ROSYTH bride-to-be says she no longer knows who to trust after claiming she lost hundreds of pounds to a wedding planner.

The devastated mum, who asked to remain anonymous, was looking forward to her big day but has been left stung after losing £225 to Niki Burton, of La Belle Mariee Wedding and Events, who she claims has been ignoring her requests for a refund.

Police are now investigating and the soon-to-be bride told the Press: “I came across her on the Blushing Brides Facebook page and she gave me a good quote for the dancefloor. I paid £150 to go towards her making my wedding dress and £75 for the black LED dancefloor and then a few weeks ago I found out she never turned up to another wedding.

“It was on Facebook that she wasn’t replying to calls and had taken someone’s money, so I got in touch to cancel and ask for a refund but she’s not replied. I’ve not heard anything.”

The bride-to-be got in touch with the police and trading standards but she’s now worried about planning the rest of her wedding.

“It’s quite scary,” she said. “I don’t know who to trust and who to book with. I just want to warn people. I’ve seen her on wedding pages in Dunfermline and Rosyth. I wouldn’t want other people to lose money, it’s not nice to be in that situation. She was quite popular and quite a lot of brides have been let down.

“Hopefully, I’ll get my money back. If I book something else I’m going to make sure it’s well known and I’ll get a contract first before handing over my money.”

Other brides-to-be across Scotland have also made claims against Ms Burton, whose website and Facebook page have now been shut down.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We are aware of an allegation of fraud against a wedding and events company. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Ms Burton did not respond to the Press’ request for comment.
