A ROSYTH man who sexually attacked a woman while she was asleep at his home has been jailed for 18 months.

Calum James King, 26, had previously admitted sexually assaulting the woman at his home at 79 Camdean Crescent on October 18, 2014, by touching her on the vagina.

He appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday.
Solicitor Chris Sneddon said King was “extremely sorry” and “appreciates he made a terrible mistake”.

Mr Sneddon added that the prospect of prison “terrified” King – but Sheriff Craig McSherry blasted: “This offence on indictment carries a period of imprisonment of life in prison.”

Sentencing King to 18 months' jail, the sheriff said: “This is a sexual assault by touching a woman's vagina at your home while she was still asleep.

“You came downstairs so there must have been some element of pre-planning.

“I appreciate all parties were drunk. However, you only ceased when she awakened, and only then.

“Given the nature of this offence, I am of the view that a custodial sentence is the only one I can impose.”
