POLICE in Fife are investigating a fire attack at a house in Parkside Street, Rosyth.

The incident happened at around 11.50pm on Monday, October 3, when the area around the front door of the property was set alight.

Fire crews rushed to the scene and the blaze was extinguished quickly.  No-one was injured as a result of the incident.

It's now thought the fire was deliberate following a joint investigation by Police Scotland and the Scottish FiRe and Rescue Service.

Within the last few minutes, police issued a statement to say they are now investigating the incident, adding it had "caused understandable distress to the 30-year-old female occupant of the property".

The statement continued: "Although this is believed to have been an isolated incident, the motive behind it is currently unknown. With this in mind officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward."

Detective Sergeant Kieran Marsh, of Dunfermline CID, said:  “Fortunately, no-one was injured as a result of this fire, however, it could have had much more serious consequences.

“We are eager to speak to any witnesses who may have been in the Parkside Street area on Monday, October 3.

“Anyone with information that may assist us in our enquiries is asked to come forward immediately.”
