A DUNFERMLINE delivery driver has been fined after stealing money from the takeaway he worked for.
David Peden was a driver for Indian takeaway 'Sizzlers' in Rosyth but didn't return to the business with £75 of cash that belonged to the owner.
He contacted the employer when his vehicle broke down while making deliveries.
Later, the takeaway gave him the opportunity of paying it back, however, the business had to contact the police after he failed to return.
Peden, 38, of North Street, admitted that on May 5, 2015, unknown to his employers, he stole £75 in cash.
Defence solicitor Chris Sneddon told Dunfermline Sheriff Court that his client did not intend to not give the money back to his employer.
"His car had broken down and he used the funds to get home."
Sheriff Craig McSherry fined Peden £350 and ordered him to pay £75 in compensation.
