A FANTASY-BASED card game that claims more than 20 million players worldwide to its name is looking for its next generation of followers in West Fife.

Famous players of Magic: The Gathering include Wil Wheaton, Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and, at its most competitive, top players can get to the World Championships beating thousands of hopefuls.

Moving from their previous base at the 'Little Shop of Heroes', the Forth Magic group have found their new home at the Yellow Cafe in Rosyth.

Kirsty McIntyre, Forth Magic chairwoman, said: "Magic seems more complicated than it is but you can pick up the basics quite quickly.

"It's an unusual hobby and not many people have heard of it but there's a really good community here.

"There's the competitive side and some of us have been all over the world to play but people come for the social aspect of it and to learn from others."

Magic began in the '90s in the USA and is a cards-based trading game. Probably the simplest way to break it down is that you play with a deck of cards with the aim of bringing your opponent's life total down.

Kirsty added: "It's a game of strategy, planning out your next move. But for anyone that wants to join us we give them a pack of introductory cards. You'll have a laugh and enjoy everyone's company. And you never know, you might get to the World Cup for Scotland!"

Forth Magic meet every Friday at the Yellow Cafe in Rosyth from 6.30pm. For more information, email contact@forthmagic.uk
