A COMPLAINT to the police regarding an online video on social media resulted in a sentence of 50 hours' unpaid work for a Rosyth man.

Terry Ward contacted the police to ask them to remove a video from Facebook posted by his ex-partner. However, after investigations he was charged for threatening behaviour.

Ward, 36, of Forker Avenue, previously admitted that between August 15 and October 31, 2015, at an address in Rosyth, he did behave in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in that he did shout, swear, utter abusive remarks, utter threats of violence, and act in aggressive manner.

Depute fiscal Alastair Shaw told Dunfermline Sheriff Court: "At around 9pm, the accused was with his ex-partner and had been drinking throughout the day.

"He became aggressive and become more aggressive after placing a bet on his phone.

"He shouted insults at his ex-partner and threatened her with violence. Her daughter was sleeping in a room close to the incident.

"Police were not contacted at the time but after subsequent events it was reported."

Defence solicitor Gordon Martin explained to the court that his client was arrested after contacting the police to request that they took a video down that had been put on Facebook.

"From viewing the video it is clear that he is drunk and misbehaving but he was not the only one," he said.

"His relationship with his ex-partner ended in the May of last year and he also stopped drinking last year."

Sheriff Chris Shead said:"This is a nasty offence in itself but things have seemed to improve since then."
