A DEVASTATED family from Rosyth are calling on the public to help their beloved winged friend, Basil, find his way home.

The cockatiel went missing on Monday morning and Basil's owners are offering £100 to anyone who can help bring him home.

Kirsty Page, owner, said: "He's never been in a cage and he flies freely from room to room.

"Basil perched himself on my partner's shoulder when he went out to the car and he flew away from there.

"We have five kids and the four eldest are all devastated that he's gone. There's a woodland area behind where we live in Middlebank Street so we think he's gone there as he was heading in that direction. We've had him for four months and he normally goes out and comes back to his usual calls but he hasn't this time.

"He's really friendly - he even wolf whistles - so he'll probably swoop down to someone."
