A PLOT of land in Rosyth behind the Stephen’s Bakery HQ has been marked for major development.

J Smart and Co, of Edinburgh, have submitted a proposal of application notice to build housing and a bakery on land to the east of Whinnyburn Place.

This gives them a 12-week consultation period before they can submit a planning application and locals will be given their say.

The company have not provided any more details on the number of houses planned but Stephen’s say the development of a new bakery building is to facilitate future expansion plans.

The West Fife bakery houses its head office on land just in front of the proposed development.

J Smart and Co’s proposal says there would be a mix of private housing for sale and affordable housing, as well the creation of associated roads, car-parking and other infrastructure.

The map of the proposed site shows it will sit directly opposite Whinnyburn Place, with the back of the development lying beside Whinny Burn and south of the Fife Circle railway line.

A pre-consultation event giving West Fifers the chance to find out more will be held from 2.30-7.30pm on Wednesday, November 1 at the Parkgate Centre in Rosyth.
