PUPILS at King's Road Primary School in Rosyth welcomed Press editor Simon Harris and reporter Gemma Ryder on Thursday morning.

The Primary 4 class have been looking at jobs in Scotland and wanted to look at how to become a journalist.

Simon spoke to them about the paper and gave them a headline challenge to tackle as well as showing them the first ever edition of the Press - which dates back to 1859.

Gemma told the pupils about reporting news stories online in addition to the paper and some of the budding journalists were happy to be interviewed.

Eve McDonald, aged 8, said: "I had a lovely time. I loved learning how to write my name in shorthand - it was the best part!"

Josh Grant, aged 8, also loved having a lesson on the journalist's secret code of shorthand.

He said: "Shorthand is really fun! It's really quick and I might think about being a reporter when I am older because I love football!"

"Shorthand seems quite tricky!" Dylnn Hunter, aged 8 said. "Learning about newspapers was really fun!"

We then uploaded this story to the website and have posted it on our Facebook page so that, as you read this, the pupils are enjoying being famous.

Good news travels fast!
