A ROSYTH man who went into local bars carrying an extendable baton is now behind bars.

Greg Reedy, 32, of Alexander Place, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on July 16, at the Gothenburg Hotel and CJs pool hall, both Queensferry Road, Rosyth, he was in possession of an offensive weapon, an extendable baton.

Defence solicitor Stephen Morrison said the incident happened after his client was assaulted at his door by someone claiming to be a TV licence inspector.

“He was cut after being struck with something like a knuckleduster. The attacker also dropped the baton and Mr Reedy had picked it up. He had then gone by taxi to two bars carrying the baton but was only looking for a friend,” added Mr Morrison.

Reedy is already on a restriction of liberty order for drugs offences.

Sheriff Chris Shead pointed out that Reedy had “an extremely serious record for crimes of violence”.

He called for reports and Reedy was remanded in custody until sentencing on March 28.
