HEARTLESS vandals destroyed Camdean Nursery's garden during the Easter holidays.

Play equipment has been wrecked and the garden has been left in a complete mess.

Camdean Primary School shared their devastation on their Facebook page after vandals struck their premises yet again and appealed for help tracing the culprits.

Pupils, parents and the local community had worked to create a new garden for the nursery, which opened last year.

Rosalind Frame, Camdean Primary School headteacher said: “It is very disappointing and upsetting that our school has been targeted by vandals again. Over the holidays, garden equipment donated and built by the local community and parents has been damaged.

“I would like to say to the perpetrators that vandalism is not a victimless crime. These actions have really distressed a lovely group of three- and four-year olds who could be your brothers, sisters or cousins. The time and money that we will have to spend on making good the damage could have been put to much better use within the school and nursery.

“If any members of the public have information regarding this matter, please contact Police Scotland on 101.”

Camdean Primary School was last struck by vandals in the February half-term break with bin fires but they have suffered similar attacks on many occasions over the last few years.

Fiona Meade, secretary of Rosyth Community Council, said: "It's very disappointing to see the pictures this morning of the mindless vandalism.

"My friend's wee girl goes here and I know how much effort the teachers and the parents had put in to make it a fun and safe learning space for the kids.

"For them to walk in and see that after returning from Easter break is heartbreaking. Someone must know something as to who is responsible for this."

Responding to the news, Doreen Philp said on Facebook: "I am in tears to see this vandalism to the nursery garden.

"I know how much time and effort all the children, staff and some parents put into creating this play area from nothing over the past year.

"My grand-daughter, Iris, loved being involved in this project, especially the peace corner with the Buddha. I can't understand why some people enjoy destroying an area for little ones.

"As the children arrive today they must be broken-hearted. The staff have put up with this time after time in the walled area and had hoped this new garden wouldn't be targeted. How disheartening to come back after a short break to this."

Lorraine Birrell added: "Senseless vandalism from senseless morons. What pleasure does this give anyone, especially those morons unable to differentiate between pleasure and pain? A disgrace."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Fife are investigating following an incident of vandalism at Camdean Primary School.

“A fence and children’s play equipment have been damaged at some point over the weekend – Friday 13th April to Monday 16th April.

“Inquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances and anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101 quoting incident number 0967 of 16th April.”
