A ROSYTH dad took to the road to raise money – and awareness – for Scottish Autism.

Euan McCulloch, 36, walked the 50-mile distance from his family’s West Fife home to Loch Earn, setting off in the early hours and arriving at 6.20pm on the same day.

His mammoth challenge follows the efforts of his wife, Stephanie, and her colleagues at the Fife Housing Group who selected Scottish Autism as their charity of the year in recognition of the help they provide youngsters like their seven-year-old boy, Ray, who suffers from the condition.

Co-incidentally, Euan’s event took place on the same day that Ray took part in a sponsored walk around the Glen with his Pitreavie Primary classmates.

“He was finished in time to come up and meet me at the end,” said Euan, who also has a nine year-old daughter, Lana.

“When I decided to do it, people did offer to do it with me but I wanted to challenge myself to do it on my own to see how I would cope.

“I enjoyed the first part of it up to Powmill and after that, the legs started to suffer so it was a bit of a struggle but I made it.

“I raised over £2,000 and the money is great but it is also about raising awareness as well.

"We are going to have struggles as far as our son is concerned and we are always going to rely on Scottish Autism – their support is invaluable.”
