Marine Harvest Consumer products secured the contract to supply fresh and smoked salmon products to stores across the UK from November this year, bringing almost 300 jobs to the Rosyth area with work to be undertaken at the Admiralty Park processing plant.

Andy Stapley, managing director of Marine Harvest, said, “This is excellent news for the company as well as for Rosyth and will mean significant expansion for the plant and more local jobs for the area.

“This latest contract builds on the strong relationship Marine Harvest has established with Sainsbury’s over many years and is part of the company’s strategy to manage the entire food production process from farm to fork.” The Rosyth plant, which opened in 2014, started production of consumer products in January 2015. Until now, it has been mainly producing products under the Marine Harvest brand – Harbour Salmon Co. The Sainsbury’s business will see the volumes being produced at the plant increase five-fold.

The 200,000-square feet facility at Admiralty Park will be one of the largest processing plants in the UK. The site already employs more than 90 people and this figure will increase to around 350 over the next 12 months.

In addition to the UK market, the Rosyth plant now supplies salmon products to France and Italy with plans to expand into the USA.
