The name change was part of a nationwide revamp of the high street chain and staff got to enjoy the afternoon with the cutting of the ribbon – and the cake – by Rosyth man and Arctic Convoys veteran Alexander Gillan.

The 89-year-old was featured in the Press earlier this year after receiving a commemorative medal from the Russian Consulate for his service in the Second World War and was invited along for the opening last Thursday as a well-respected member of the local community.

Staff member Sheila said, “It was really good. All the Co-ops have changed to Well Pharmacy and this was the official day for the name change.

“We had Mr Gillan along and he cut the cake. It all went well and it was a nice day.”
