Fife"s one possible case of swine flu under investigation was declassified yesterday (Sunday) leaving the region clear of any present cases.

The number of confirmed cases remains at 13 after a family from the Forth Valley area, including a 39-year-old mother, 43-year-old father and 10-year-old daughter, were diagnosed after returning from holiday in Florida.

All six possible cases of Influenza (H1N1) under investigation across the country have now been declassified and there remains no probable cases in Scotland at present.

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said, 'It"s very encouraging that the number of confirmed cases of the virus in Scotland remains small. We currently have no new confirmed or probable cases and the six possible cases under investigation yesterday have been cleared and are not of Influenza A(H1N1).

'The success so far of our containment strategy can be put down to thorough pandemic planning and the excellent response of our NHS Scotland staff, who have acted quickly to identify possible cases and react accordingly.

'The level of person to person transmission we have seen in Scotland so far has been very limited and the risk to the public remains low. However, it is important that we all continue to do everything possible to limit the spread of the virus with simple good hygiene measures.'
