When you think of Dunfermline what springs to mind?

DUNFERMLINE residents are being asked to voice exactly what they believe the town needs to become a modern eco-city ready to embrace the future.
The Byre Theatre of St Andrews has been commissioned by Royal Dunfermline to implement a series of creative arts activities and establish just what the public feel about where they live and what they want it to offer.
Questions needing answered include: When you think of Dunfermline, what springs to mind? Do you know what is on offer on your doorstep? What would you like to be on offer? How do you think Dunfermline should look like by 2020?
Look out for poets on trains, dancers and actors in schools, drama in community settings and performing arts in public places, combined with opportunities to provide feedback and suggestions.
Dunfermline school pupils, with support from Celebrating Fife 2010, will be also working alongside architects, planners and urban designers to create a large scale model of an eco-city for the future.
Throughout the year feedback cards will be available in local shops, businesses and services for you to write down your thoughts and suggestions.
Imagine Dunfermline launches on Saturday at Dunfermline's Kingsgate Shopping Centre at 11am and the public launch includes professional dance companies Smallpetitklein and Y Dance joined by The All Boys Dance Crew from Woodmill High School, the Byre Theatre's Heydays Singers and Live Jazz.
Chair of Royal Dunfermline, Angus Hogg, said, "This is a great opportunity for the people of Dunfermline to participate in the scoping of the future of the city.
"The Imagine Dunfermline project facilitates creative thinking for all ages.
Whether you are seven or 70 the team want to hear how you imagine your city.
If you are curious about how your project or idea could be reality, give it a voice to speak, the Imagine team will be listening.
If you start with the talking then we can get on with the doing."
Have your say. .

think of dunfermline ?
erm wall to wall secand hand shops in the high street.
kingsgate shopping centre still not fully occupied with now secand shops installed.
Dunfermline by day id fine but by night is when the hyenas come out to hunt, witness anyone who has the bravery to walk thro the high streeet when after 9pm thursday to sunday nights with all the animals to-ing and fro-ing from club to pub .
the glen is fine but out-dated , the abbey is fine but is not being utilized to its limit i.e. musical artists -- shows--- events.
carnegie hall is still not for everyone and the new alhambra is getting there but in general events should be given to all not just the minority.

Dunfermline is quality and i miss it but love coming back for the weekend.
Dunfermline is about going to the wateringhole for a pint before the footy. A nice stroll up through the public park to east end park to watch the almighty pars get absoloutely gubbed or on a really good day we might pinch a draw.
Going down to the 7-kings for a decent bit of grub then maybe going down the glen for a stroll about afterwards. Dunfermline is a good night out too. Very few animals on the loose but theres always a minority that are out looking for trouble and you get that no matter where you go, infact everyone is very friendly and is usually up for a good laugh. A sunday can be easily spent up at dulloch park, brand new cinema, bingo, crazy golf, bowling and a variety of really good restaurants and exellent transport links. Its easy to focus on the bad points dunfermline has, but you need to look past that and realise it has so much more to offer than other areas in britain. I live in a concrete jungle in england where you have to play dodge the smackhead/junkie every time you want to go asda. I do agree that the kingsgate is lacking a bit of variety in shops seeing as its just been renivated. I think alot of people that live in dunfermline just take it for granted and dont really appreciate it. I used to be the same when I lived there and would always complain that it was **** but you dont realise how polite and friendly the people of dunfermline really are until you move somewhere else and live beside a bunch of rude and arrogant individuals who have no manners what so ever. Cant wait to move back home!!

I totaly agree with Neily. I have lived out of Dunfermline for many years and I really appreciate going back. Apart from the weekend when it's like a jungle of neds, the people are really great, fantastic service in the shops, good food at 7 Kings, ec ... ! I do think Dunfermline isn't really making the most of itself though ' it really is a pretty town with lots of history and I think we should be proud of it

The reason dunfermline has been left behind is due to fife council if you look at the board all the top ones are from glenrothes and kirkcaldy dunfermline gets forgotten about. What we need is a new shopping center the kings gates a shambles why anyone would come from anywhere to shop there god know! and as for the extension pmsl
