Drugs worth more than £250,000 seized in police raids

ILLEGAL drugs worth more than £250,000 were seized after Fife police swooped on 12 addresses on Friday.

In the latest Operation Laser initiative, which has seen 34 raids carried out in the last six weeks, officers confiscated heroin, valium, cannabis and drug cash worth more than £1000.

The force acted after "significant intelligence gathering" which saw the drug squad, 'method of entry teams', dog section, scenes of crimes officers and specialist searchers all take part.

A number of people were reported to the procurator fiscal and, in the past six weeks, officers have seized drugs with a street value of more than £500,000.

Detective Superintendent Garry McEwan praised the "exceptional results" and said, "The enforcement activity is the culmination of a series of targeted activities against drug dealers identified as operating within Fife.

"Lying at the heart of this operation is a desire to tackle issues that have been identified as being most important by local communities."

He added, "Tackling drugs and serious organised crime is a very high priority for Fife Constabulary and the purpose of this operation was to undertake a co-ordinated, intelligence-led drugs initiative designed to disrupt and dismantle these groups at every level.

"We have achieved that today."

All I can say is "HA HA HA!" and a big up yours to the drug realers. Wont make much of a difference though. More raids on Fraser Avenue would be a good idea. The place is a filthy drug den. I feel sorry for all the normal law abiding families in that street that have no choice but to live there because that's where the council have dumped them.
