Bins lifted in Inverkeithing - by 'rubbish' thieves

Comments (2) | Print | Email

PUZZLED police in Inverkeithing are hunting rubbish thieves - who stole a number of blue wheelie bins over the weekend.

A number of the bins, which are used for disposing of paper and cardboard, were taken from the Cochrane Avenue and Preston Terrace areas of the town.

Fife police believe the thefts occurred on Saturday evening and are appealing for information.

Local community officer PC Paul Dykes added: "Moving the bins can cause quite a noise and I am hopeful that someone in the area may have observed those responsible.

"I encourage anyone with information to contact Fife police on 0845 600 4702 or alternatively via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111".

Fife Council recently announced householders would have to get used to a fourth bin for their rubbish, currently there are three.

Police have also encouraged local residents to be vigilant and to keep wheelie bins in secure gardens or bin stores where possible.
