Heroin seized in Easter crackdown
HEROIN with an estimated street value of £150,000 was seized in two separate police operations in West Fife over the Easter weekend.
On Friday, officers apprehended a 33-year-old man who had been travelling in a car on the A90 near Inverkeithing. He was found to be in possession of half a kilo of heroin with a street value of £50,000.
The following day, a 42-year-old man was arrested after getting off a train at Inverkeithing station and was in possession of a kilo of heroin.
Detective Superintendent Garry McEwan said, "Tackling drugs and serious organised crime is a very high priority for Fife Constabulary.
"These latest arrests send out a message to drug dealers and others involved in this type of criminality that we are fully committed to using all available resources to target, disrupt and detect those most intent on causing significant harm to our communities.
"The drugs operation over the Easter holiday weekend forms an integral part of the force's on-going commitment to the delivery of the priorities identified within the force policing plan.
"On this occasion not only have we removed 150,000 street deals of heroin from the streets of Fife but we have also specifically targeted criminals intent on utilising our roads and public transport networks to attempt to bring drugs into Fife.
"Let this be a warning to those involved in the supply of drugs within our communities - your criminal activities will not be tolerated.
"This seizure is further evidence of what can be achieved when working closely with Fife's communities."
