Drink-driver did 70 in 40 zone while three times over limit

A WEST FIFE drink-driver was caught doing nearly double the permitted speed on Queensferry Road in Dunfermline while three times over the legal limit.
Fife police were out in force on the region's roads last weekend as part of an action plan targeting speeding and dangerous driving.
The 35-year-old man was detected travelling at more than 70mph in the 40mph zone on Saturday evening.
When stopped by officers they detected the smell of alcohol from the driver and he subsequently provided a sample of breath which allegedly showed he was three times over the legal drink-drive limit.
Marked and unmarked police vehicles were used to maximise the impact during the clampdown.
Over the weekend a total of 17 drivers were reported for speeding offences and 28 penalty tickets were issued across the region for a variety of motoring offences.
Deputy head of road policing, Inspector Brenda Sinclair, said fatal road crashes in Fife were at an all-time low and hailed the efforts of police and the public.
She said, "We are committed to focusing our enforcement activity towards those most vulnerable on Fife's roads.
"Those who choose to drive at speeds well in excess of the legal limit place both themselves and other road users at risk.
"Those who choose to endanger themselves and others will find themselves facing the consequences in court, where they can be heavily fined and even disqualified.
"My advice is simple, obey the speed limits and drive with care and help keep Fife's busy road network safe."
Starting this Monday the Fife Mobile Camera Unit will be stationed on the A823 Queensfery Road and A907 Halbeath Road, Dunfermline; A92 Crossgates to Cowdenbeath road; and the A985 Crombie to Kincardine road.

Report commentyou cant make it a 60 Dazza, first of all their is 5 bus stops on both sides of that road, and it would be far to dangerous for busses to get back onto road after stopping.
Secondly you have traffic emerging from the golf club and sports centre.
The road is fine at 40, lets not forget someone lost their lifes on that road not so long ago.
