Bomb scare at Culross home of TV presenter

CULROSS was sealed off for two hours while police investigated a bomb scare at the home of TV sports presenter Dougie Vipond.
His wife, Mandy, raised the alarm after a mysterious parcel was delivered to their house and with all the publicity surrounding the bombs sent to Neil Lennon, QC Paul McBride and former MSP Trish Godman she was taking no chances.
Police raced to the village and it was sealed off while they checked out the parcel.
In the event it turned out to be a false alarm. It was reported that the parcel contained pyjamas which Dougie had left behind in a hotel and they had been sent on to him.
A spokesman for Fife police said, "Any incident like this is obviously treated very seriously but it turned out to be a false alarm with good intent."
Martin McNair, chair of Culross Community Council, said, "It was a misunderstanding and it didn't cause any real disruption in the village. It was just a tiny street that was sealed off."
Dougie Vipond had recently interviewed Mr McBride over SFA disciplinary decisions involving the Old Firm.
