Man's body found in Dunfermline city centre
FIFE police are carrying out investigations after a man's body was discovered in Dunfermline city centre.
The discovery was made in the early hours of this morning (Thursday) in the town's High Street.
Both Mountain Warehouse and Nationwide stores remained closed this morning as an area in front of the shops was cordoned off to allow officers to carry out inquiries.
Detective Inspector David McLaren said "We are in the very early stages of an investigation and at this time we are treating the death as unexplained.
"As we carry out further inquiry an area of High Street, Dunfermline will remain cordoned and there will clearly be increased police activity."
Anyone with information about the death is asked to call Fife Constabulary on 0845 600 5702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Just because someone is sleeping does not mean that his family does not care about him.
Your coment comes over as very judgemental.
Hope they find out what happened. Thoughts are with his friends and family.

Report commentThis police farce doing their job? Not a hope in ell mate! It's a local crime wave we are living in. Look at what they have presided over, they seem proud of the fact that just about every street in Fife is being raided for drug cultivation. Sack the lot and get someone who can manage the area. Tax payers money going down the drain.

Report comment" captain hook " i did not say the persons death was the fault of the police however a bit more attention paid during what should be regular vigilant patrols of the town centre during the hours of darkness by the police may have helped to avoid the sad death of this person.
although the police are sometimes kept busy on some nights i wonder just how busy the police on duty were during the night when this person died , or how long they sat in the police station waiting on a call out , after all they could be contacted by radio if needed while carrying out routine patrols with no real need to be confined to the police station for hours at a time.
how many times do we hear the police asking if anybody has seen anything seemingly unaware that the public especially during the hours of darkness rely on the police being out and about seeing what is going on.
