A planning application has been submitted to build a 24 metre high wind turbine at the new £40 million Dunfermline High School.
Plans for the new 'green' high school, which hopes to get 40 per cent of its heating from renewable sources, initially included a 14 metre high wind turbine to be used to deliver electricity to different parts of the campus.
Fife Council architect Diarmid McLachlan explained, "The previously approved turbine has now been discontinued by the manufacturer and because of this we now apply for the erection of a larger turbine with the same design at an increased height which will in fact be more efficient."
