Pars unveil Jefferies

JIM JEFFERIES believes he has what it takes to save the Pars' SPL skin after answering the SOS calls coming from East End Park.
The 61-year-old former Hearts boss has agreed a minimum 15-month deal to become the new Dunfermline Athletic manager, which will then become a rolling contract.
He replaces Jim McIntyre, who was sacked by the club on Friday with the club bottom of the SPL and without a home win in any competition this season.
There are eight games left before the end of the season.
Jefferies was unveiled as the new Pars boss at a Pitreavie press conference yesterday (Wednesday) by chairman John Yorkston.
The deal means Jefferies will remain in charge next season regardless of whether the Pars remain in the Premier League.
Current assistant manager Gerry McCabe will remain in his post in a bid to help the new manager become familiar with his squad.
Jefferies said, "We know it's going to be tough but I wouldn't have taken the job if I didn't think we could stay up.
"We have to start preparing for next season and hopefully it will be in the Premier League.
"Things can change very quickly and there are enough points and enough games to turn things around.
"I've been down there with Kilmarnock and clubs in that position always have ups and downs. I have learned from that and know what it takes.
"It's about making the players believe they can truly get out of the position they're in."
Jefferies, who has also had managerial spells with Bradford City and Kilmarnock, has been out of work since being sacked from his post as Hearts boss in August.
His first game in charge will be at home to St Mirren at East End Park on Saturday where he will try to engineer the club's first home win of the season.
He added, "To try and get the first home win would be a tremendous boost.
"The players are playing for both the club's and their own future. They have eight major cup finals to ensure they stay in this league."

Report commentApparently, during contract negotiations, Big Jim asked what reward would he get if he saves the Pars from relegation and was told he will get a cash reward, if only they had told him that the reward will be to see the Hibs getting relegated.
