TWO men from South-West Fife have appeared in court in relation to a number of street robberies which took place in the Dunfermline area over the past week.

The two appeared in Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Thursday charged in connection with the robberies.

Detective Constable Chris Carson of Dunfermline CID, who led the investigation, said, "I would like to thank the members of the public who came forward and provided information in relation to these crimes which resulted in two men being apprehended.

"Although noticeably shaken by these unprovoked attacks, thankfully, the victims were not seriously injured.

"I would also like to reassure the public that instances of robbery in the town are rare and no-one else is being sought in connection with this recent spate."

"Crime in Fife fell by 4.3 per cent in 2011/2012 and is 49 per cent lower than seven years ago and it is thanks to the help and assistance we receive from members of the public that we are able to reduce such incidences."
