BIG Country star Jamie Watson is hoping Press readers can help him in a race against time to retrieve his prized guitar before a gig in London's Hyde Park on Thursday.

The musician, who plays alongside his dad Bruce in the famous Dunfermline band, left his Freshman Apollo 3 OC, an electro acoustic guitar, in the back of a taxi on Sunday morning.

His mum Sandra is co-ordinating the search and said, "He went out to PJs on Saturday night, met with some friends and decided to go to their house in Oakley.

"They got a taxi outside the club at 1.35am and got the driver to wait while he picked up his guitar and an overnight bag from our house in Dunfermline.

"Because there were four of them they put the guitar in the boot of the taxi and then forgot all about it when they got there.

"He can't remember any details about the car, we've phoned round all the taxi companies we can think of and told the police but we've had no luck so far."

Big Country are due to play A Taste of Hard Rock Calling in London on Thursday, a warm-up before headlining one of the stages at Hard Rock Calling on Sunday, also in Hyde Park - an event at which Paul Simon will play.

Jamie became the youngest musician to play the main stage at T in the Park as part of the Skids 30th anniversary reunion, he has recorded an album with his dad and both are involved in the reformed Big Country, touring with the band last year.

Sandra added, "It's the only guitar he has up here - the rest are in London - but he absolutely loves it.

"It's a well played, well loved guitar and we're hoping the Press can help us get it back!"

Anyone who has the guitar can contact the Press on 747500 or leave it at Dunfermline police station.
