ELVIS and The Beatles will be in Dalgety Bay this Saturday as the fun kicks off at the town's fourth annual Pushkart Derby (PKD).

The legends - really leading tribute acts Paul Thorpe and the Get Back Band - will be part of a line-up entertaining crowds at the popular event, which incorporates the derby, post-race concert and family market.

Teams will race round a quarter-mile circuit at St David's Business Park and viewers should be prepared to be wowed by the home-made karts - one is rumoured to have a vacuum cleaner as a seat and another a high-spec model ever put together by a local performance garage.

The line-up for the post-race concert includes Grace Black, AC/DC tribute act Forever Young, The Session, Tam Scott, David Mutch, Lost Fleet, Them Blues Brothers, Shameless and Blue Delta.

Adding to the fun is the 'PKD Market', with 35 stalls offering a range of goods and services from massages to homemade crafts.

The day is in aid of Cancer Research UK and PKD organiser Mark Bennett said, "As this year is the 50th anniversary of The Beatles we decided to get the UK's number one Elvis impersonator Paul Thorpe and decided he should meet 'The Beatles', the Get Back Band. This year they're coming to Dalgety Bay and we're very happy about that!

"We've got teams from the Rotary Club of Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay, Bayside FC - there's even a team coming from Kirkcaldy and Tesco and Asda are entering two shopping trolleys!

"In a recession we don't care how much we raise as long as people have a good time and we raise some money - even if it's just £100 that's £100 we never had.

"All the bands are appearing for free and it's very weather-dependent as well but we've got rain shelters and marquees so if we get a quick shower people can run under them.

"It's all free because it's absolutely ridiculous to charge people in a recession - just put in a donation at the gate."

PKD will be held in St David's Business Park behind The Clubhouse. The race starts at 10.30am and the concert will be from noon to 7pm.
