Staggering 71 people caught speeding in 12 hours
FIFE police caught a staggering 71 people speeding in a 12 hour period on the A92 from Dunfermline to the Tay Bridge last week.
Six motorcyclists were caught, three of them driving more than 100mph and three at more than 90mph, as officers from Road Policing and the Fife Safety Camera Partnership patrolled the A92. Five of these drivers are being reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Drivers of 11 vehicles are also being reported to the Procurator Fiscal for driving offences including drink driving and driving whilst disqualified.
Chief Inspector Brenda Sinclair, Head of Road Policing said, "It is very disappointing that such a high number of people were apparently speeding in such a short space of time, and so soon after a national campaign to target speeding and inappropriate driving.
"There is always a higher number of motorcyclists on the roads at this time of year, and particularly now the weather is improving. I would urge all road users to be mindful of speed limits and to be aware of pedal cyclists and motorcyclists, and not to take any unnecessary risks."
