Bring on the pipes!
A 100-STRONG pipe band will be visiting Dunfermline tomorrow (Friday) and performing at the Louise Carnegie Gates to Pittencrieff Park.
The Can/Am Pipes and Drums from North America are conducting a Jubilee tour of Scotland and hope to make their visit a regular occurrence in future years.
Thomas Moffat of Visit Dunfermline has been working with Can/Am since an exploratory visit by them a year ago to check out Dunfermline as a suitable base for the band.
He said, "Along with the Romanes Media Group and First Scottish we are delighted to be hosting this visit and are grateful to Fife Council for making Can/Am so welcome.
We intend to forge stronger links with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and other overseas bands to market Dunfermline as an ideal venue for a bigger pipe band event next year in the build up to 2014 when Dunfermline will be the focus of national attention on the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn.
One of the reasons Can/Am chose Dunfermline was its rich history, we hope this will increase Dunfermline's appeal as a tourist venue."
In addition to performing at the Louise Carnegie Gates at 1pm, Can/Am will also march through the Glen for a further performance outside Pittencrieff House Museum at 2pm.
