TV3 (Danish TV) star Linse Kessler added some glamour to the games.

THE crowds turned up in force to enjoy "the best day of the year" at the Inverkeithing Highland Games on Saturday.

Attendance and participant numbers were up at Inverkeithing's annual social event, which saw Highland dancing, heavyweight competitions, piping, track, field and cycle events, Active Schools' kids' Highland games and taking place in glorious sunshine.

Adding to the festivities were bouncy castles and fairground rides, as well as community stalls and tents offering everything from home baking to the Yes Scotland campaign.

Games secretary Brian McGarry admitted the recent dreich weather had nearly resulted in the day being cancelled, as Ballast Bank had been waterlogged in places.

However, he beamed, "We're glad we made the decision to go ahead - we would have been kicking ourselves if we hadn't!"
