Kids sign skate park petition
MORE than 100 bored youths in High Valleyfield have signed a petition calling for a skate park for the village.
Councillor Bobby Clelland was approached back in May by the youngsters who want a skate park that's "more sophisticated than the one in Oakley".
They were asked to sign a petition and within a month they had obtained more than 100 signatures.
The petition was presented to Councillor Alice Callaghan earlier this month.
Fife Council are due to meet on 29th August to discuss plans for a skate park and to get funding for the project.
Councillor Alice Callaghan told the Press she was confident they would manage to get funding and that work would begin on the skate park as soon as possible.
The skate park will either be situated beside High Valleyfield Community Centre or by the primary school.
The cost of the park is yet to be confirmed as extra costs such as fencing around the area will increase the total cost of the project.

Report commentYep, I agree, why don't the bored kids entertain themselves by help raising funds to pay for their park & get involved in the design. This would surely create a sense of pride in the final outcome? Good on them for rising to the challenge so far :)

Report commentAnd of these 100 kids just how many will use a park if it's built? Judging by the numbers that use parks in Dunfermline and Dalgety Bay, very few indeed.
The problem isn't that these kids have nothing to do - heaven knows there was little enough to do 60 years ago when I was a kid - the problem is that they want passive entertainment. Just to sit on their backsides and bleat for someone to make them less bored. Really sad!
