New police chief for Fife
NORMA Graham has retired from her duties as Fife's police chief as she prepares to stand trial for careless driving.
Her deputy Andrew Barker was this week announced as the new Chief Constable of Fife Constabulary.
Ms Graham (49) had already announced she was to stand down from her post.
She is to stand trial in December over a collision on the B922 Cluny to Kinglassie Road in February.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Tom Ewing assumes the responsibilities of Deputy Chief Constable.
The two appointments were decided by Fife Council's Police Transition Committee earlier this month and have since been approved by the Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill.
Mr Barker joined Fife Constabulary in March 2009 as Assistant Chief Constable before being promoted to the role of Deputy Chief Constable in March 2011.
He said, "It is both an honour and a privilege to be asked to serve as the Chief Constable for Fife Constabulary.
