Pars star arrested
OFFICIALS at Dunfermline Athletic have launched an investigation after midfielder Ryan Thomson was charged with an alleged assault in Glasgow.
The star was arrested on Tuesday night and quizzed by Strathclyde police in connection with an incident in Glasgow's Southside on Sunday 12th August.
Footage of the bust-up, which involved a group of people, was caught on camera and posted on the internet.
The Press understands Thomson later handed himself in at Govan police station.
A spokesperson for the Pars said, "The club is still in the process of gathering all the information on the incident and we will be able to issue a further statement once we have all the details to hand."
The incident happened the day after Thomson had scored two goals against local rivals Cowdenbeath in the opening league game of the season.
Glasgow-born Thomson joined the Pars at under-15 level before making his first-team debut in the MG Alba Challenge Cup against Queen of the South in 2008.
He was sent to Albion Rovers on loan in 2010, where he made 15 appearances.
Last season he established himself in the first team in the SPL, making 25 appearances and scoring two goals.
A Strathclyde police spokeswoman confirmed two people had been arrested and detained in connection with the incident.
She said, "A 21-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with an alleged assault in Paisley Road West."
