'Lucky escape' after car overturns
A MOTHER and son had a lucky escape yesterday (Thursday) after their car overturned in an accident in Rosyth.
The 35-year-old woman and 12-year-old boy, who are believed to be tourists, were rescued from their black Vauxhaull Astra after it flipped over on Admiralty Road around 9.50am.
Two fire engines from Dunfermline rushed to the scene, where crews helped the shaken pair out of their vehicle. Fife police said the Astra appeared to have collided with a park car.
Allan Snowden, watch manager at Dunfermline Fire Station, said, "They were not trapped but their car was on its roof.
"We assisted them out and made sure the scene was safe to prevent any fire spread, and stabilised the car using blocks.
"They appeared to have sustained injuries to their hand but didn't appear to have any other injuries.
"But they would have been very sore. They had a lucky escape."
The mother and son were taken to the Victoria Hospital.
