Deep Sea World is inviting visitors to come along and paint a fish as part of a special weekend event (September 22nd-23rd).

The North Queensferry aquarium is teaming up with the New Economic Foundation (NEF) as part of an international campaign to raise awareness about dwindling fish stocks worldwide.

Youngsters will be invited to paint or colour in their own fish which will then go on display at the aquarium before being uploaded to the web to create a giant virtual shoal of fish.

Organisers hope the giant shoal will bring more pressure on EU leaders to help protect fish stocks and end overfishing.

Deep Sea World's Aisling Thornton said: "As well as being a fun, colouring event, the Paint a Fish Weekend will help highlight the importance of protecting our precious marine environment for future generations to enjoy.

The NEF aims to improve quality of life by promoting innovative solutions that challenge mainstream thinking on economic, environmental and social issues.
