FIFE COUNCIL has introduced a new online service to allow customers to view their council tax details 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Benefits and Council Tax service manager Joy Mackenzie explained why the new service has been introduced.

"We've done this to enable customers who have internet access to stay in better control of their council tax without having to contact us by phone or face to face," she said.

"It's quicker and easier for many people to check their balance this way and for the council, it's a more efficient way of doing business.

"After registering, customers will be able to check their balance and the payments they've made, apply for reductions and report changes to their address or personal circumstances online.

"Later this year, we'll be adding council tax rebate and housing benefit to this online service so people will be able to keep track of even more of their financial business with the council."

To register for this service, all you need to do is visit www.fifedirect.org.uk/ctaxonline . If you're not registered on Fife Direct, the council's website, you'll be asked to complete a simple registration process for this first. Then you'll be able to register for the council tax service. Please have a copy of your latest bill available when you register as you'll need details of this to complete the registration process.
