SUPER SLIMMERS: From left, Lynne, John and Edith.

THIS close-knit Dunfermline family thoroughly enjoyed life together - now mum Edith Graham, son John and daughter Lynne Paterson are also enjoying their new slim figures together too.

For they have lost more than 15 STONE between them - and have just discovered they are through to the final of Scottish Slimmers Slimmer of the Year 2012.

"We are over the moon," says 37-year-old Lynne, who started their slimming campaign off.

"I was fed up with feeling lumpy, my clothes not fitting and generally not being happy about how I looked.

"I was happily married, I had two lovely daughters and I was in a place of contentment you could say but it was all showing on my body.

"After a couple of years of dreadful holiday photos I decided to go along to my local Scottish Slimmers.

"I mentioned it to my mum and brother to see if they wanted to come along. They jumped at the idea."

It was a year ago that all three went along to the same class and Lynne admits that did help.

"We felt as though the three of us were in it together.

"We were there to support each other and I've got to say we were all pretty good most of the time."

"I knew I was heavy but a family holiday last year was the final straw for me," says John.

"I managed to get myself into the plane seat but when the food came round the tray just would not go down over my stomach. It was humiliating.

"I dreaded the flight home as I knew what was coming. My poor mum had to hold my tray for me while I ate - I was so embarrassed."

Like his mum and sister, John's life has changed immeasurably after losing more than eight stone.

"I feel as though I have my life back," he says.

"I'm going out with my mates again without having the dread of trying to find something to fit me. I've started running and am training to do a half marathon next year. Life is good."

And for Lynne, who has now lost more than four stone, there's no longer any need to cover up.

"Shopping is a delight now - when I was overweight I found myself trying to disguise the bumps.

"Now I have a wardrobe full of fabulous new clothes. It's been great fun!" she laughs.

Mum Edith, who retired two years ago from her job as store manager for Next, had found the weight creeping on after retiring and was delighted when the pounds started to fall off.

She said, "I feel so much more energetic now and Lynne's children are delighted that their Granny can run now!"
