Police probe derby smoke bomb
POLICE are investigating Pars fans who ripped out seating and threw a smoke bomb at Saturday's charged meeting with Falkirk.
Central Scotland police confirmed they were looking into incidents that occurred in the away end of the ground during the 2-2 draw.
Sergeant Roy Lake said, "We are currently investigating damage to seating in the North Stand following Falkirk's game against Dunfermline last Saturday.
"Enquires are also being carried out into a smoke bomb that was thrown.
"No person was injured in the incident. Enquires are ongoing."
Pars supporters on the club's fans' forum were quick to castigate anyone who played a part in causing any damage.
One commented, "I was ashamed by some of the fans yesterday (Saturday). Thankfully it was the minority but what absolute tools."
Another added, "The minority are letting down what was a good away support.
"I don't want to see fans getting chucked out but if they are smashing up seats and throwing flares (the smoke bomb), which if it had fallen short could have injured another supporter, then they should be ejected from the stadium."
A third concurred, "It was a stupid and dangerous thing to have done. Luckily it (the smoke bomb) did not fall short and go into the seats at the front."

Report commentWell done to the young team. The damage to the seats may have been a bit OTT but smoke bombs and flares are something we should be looking to introduce to the Scottish game. Unfortunately our club seems to be supported by boring old reactionaries these days who forget what it was like to be young.
The reaction on the Pars website was laughable. Too many people with too much time on their hands looking for any excuse to have a go at those still young enough to have a good time.

Report commentFlared, smoke bombs (though rather annoying) are fine but throwing them isn't. Would you feel the same if the bomb hit a child in the face blinding them?
Hope they catch the idiots and fine them for the seats. They do realise it's the Pars that pay for fixing them? Utter idiots.

Report commentI would like to ask, were the people causing the problems at Falkirk actually Pars Fans? Also, nobody wants to stifle the younger fans from enjoying themselves , however, there is a need to keep within the guidelines of safety.
